  • As National Account Manager you will be managing approximately 8-10 key accounts, being a mix of National Builders merchants and buying groups, with a combined spend of approximately £5million. 
  • You will be selling a comprehensive range of non mechanical access equipment, such as steps ladders, extension ladders, combination ladders, loft ladders etc, made of both aluminium and fibreglass. 
  • You will be establishing and achieving sales and profit goals for your assigned accounts, liaising with your marketing department to help your National merchant and buying groups with promotional activity, discussing range reviews with your contacts, which will typically be Procurement Directors, MDs, CEOs and Regional Directors of these merchants and buying groups and then liaise with your Regional Account Managers and ASMs, who will be dealing with those accounts at local and regional level. 
  • As National Account Manager, you will typically spend 2 or 3 days per week with your customers, making sure they have the right range, that your products are being marketed in the strongest light, both instore and online and then you'll support and get the message out to the rest of your team.
  • As NAM, you'll develop and execute appropriate channel strategies and programmes that support your account objectives, which include jointly developing with the marketing department channel specific sales and marketing programmes.
  • In essence through networking and really understanding your clients business objectives and those of their customers from an access equipment perspective, you will drive and secure business at HQ level and drive it through the regions at branch level. 
  • You will analyse customer spend, buying patterns and make sure that they are aware of your range of products and services, which does include ladder training.
  • This is a National role, which will involve occasional overnight stays. 


  • The successful NAM will have experience of negotiating pricing, trade deals, promotions and product range reviews with National Builders Merchants and Buying groups at senior level.
  • You will be a confident networker, capable of analysing accounts and maximising returns, whilst building strong commercial partnerships. 
  • You will be able to evidence good analytical, planning and negotiating skills.

  • £42,000- £45,000 Basic salary, dependent on experience.
  • Quarterly commission giving £7k for hitting target and up to £14k for overachievement.
