WANTED- Ambitious Hire Desk Manager needed for a progressive capital equipment supplier in the Manchester area. £35K-£45K Basic, 20% bonus & excellent benefits. Managing, coaching and developing 8 Hire controllers with the aim to create the best in class!

- THE ROLE; 

  • As Hire Desk Manager, you will be responsible for the coaching, leading and developing a team of 8 Hire controllers, initially remotely and post Covid, based in their Greater Manchester office.
  • Reporting to the Sales Director, the Hire Desk Manager will ensure that the hire desk is managed effectively in terms of customers and queries, as well as the overall management of the team.
  • Our client supplies a full range of plant equipment, such as modular buildings, power generation, site accommodation, site storage, dust control, smoking shelters etc.
  • The Hire desk team will be hiring to a varied customer base across the construction, highways, civils, rail, utilities and house builder sectors. 
  • As Hire Desk Manager, you will monitor, evaluate and drive the team performance against agreed metrics.
  • You will attend daily Operations meetings and undertake training with the team.
  • You will be involved in recruiting, appraisals, on occasion transport and finance, so this is a very important role within the business.
  • A key element of the role will be to create a more proactive, almost call centre like atmosphere, driving more client conversations, rather than be reactive. 
  • You will instil curiosity in your hire controller team, so that upselling and cross selling to customers becomes 2nd nature.

-THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE;

  • The successful Hire Desk Manager will have experience of managing an internal team, in a fast paced environment within construction, engineering, manufacturing or FMCG.
  • You will ideally have Plant or tool hire or capital equipment experience in a leadership capacity.
  • You will be a confident, inspiring, inclusive manager, with a demonstrable track record of driving team performance against clearly defined metrics. 
  • You will have good IT skills, covering Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
  • You will be able to demonstrate that you've managed change, have problem solving skills, are innovative, drive outstanding customer service, are diligent, professional and passionate about the success of your team.
  • You'll be an inspiring manager, able to maximise your teams potential.

- THE REMUNERATION; 

  • Basic salary of £35k-£45k dependent on experience'
  • 20% bonus potential (10% on personal objectives, 10% on team achievement)
